Producer Ramesh Taurani has officially addressed the widespread speculation surrounding Akshaye Khanna's potential return to the highly anticipated *Race 4*. Dispelling all rumors, Taurani clarified that Khanna has not been approached for the upcoming installment and there are no plans to bring his character back into the popular action franchise.
This announcement comes amidst renewed interest in Khanna's career, particularly after the recent success of *Dhurandhar*, which had fans hopeful for his comeback to the *Race* universe.
Akshaye Khanna's Role and Why He Won't Return
Akshaye Khanna was a pivotal part of the original *Race* film in 2008, where he played the antagonist. However, his character's arc concluded with an on-screen accident, a plot point that Taurani emphasized as the primary reason for not considering his return.
"No, we have not approached Akshaye. There was no scope at all," Taurani firmly stated to HT City when questioned about Khanna's involvement. "His character gets into an accident in the first movie, his track ended there, and it will remain at that."
Race 4: Script Development and Casting Rumours
Beyond Akshaye Khanna, Taurani also took the opportunity to quash other casting rumors circulating in the industry.
• He dispelled reports linking prominent actors like Saif Ali Khan or Sidharth Malhotra to the project.
• "No cast has been finalised till now. The work on the script is on," he confirmed, reiterating that *Race 4* is still in its very early stages of development.
The *Race* series, known for its high-octane action, intricate twists, and star-studded ensembles, has garnered a massive following since its inception. While official casting remains unconfirmed, writer Shiraz Ahmed, in an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama in September 2024, revealed that *Race 4* is indeed set to continue the story from *Race 1* and *2*.
Last year, a report by Filmfare also indicated that Harshvardhan Rane was in discussions to portray the antagonist in the thriller. However, as of now, no official announcements regarding the cast or further plot details have been made, leaving fans eagerly awaiting more concrete updates on *Race 4*.
