Dhurandhar The Revenge: Mumbai Police Files FIR After Drone Used Without Permission in High-Security Fort Area

The much-anticipated shoot for 'Dhurandhar The Revenge', starring Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal, faced an unexpected halt in South Mumbai's Ballard Estate, a location transformed to resemble Karachi's Lyari. The disruption occurred when Mumbai Police intervened, citing the use of a drone without proper authorization in a high-security zone. This incident has led to significant legal repercussions for the film's production.

FIR Filed Against Location Manager

A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against location manager Rinku Rajpal Valmiki under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for 'knowingly disobeying lawful orders from officials'. The core of the issue stems from the crew deploying drones for filming without the necessary permissions, especially critical as the Fort area is designated as a high-security zone. Zonal DCP Pravin Mundhe confirmed Valmiki's arrest, emphasizing the seriousness of the violation.

Sanjay Dutt's Scene Interrupted

The incident unfolded on February 1st during the shooting of a pivotal scene featuring Sanjay Dutt. Dressed in a white pathani suit and armed with a gun, Dutt was reportedly capturing a dramatic walk intended to be filmed by the drone. The sudden arrival of police officials brought the shoot to an immediate stop, disrupting a key sequence for the film.

Permit Lapses and Police Action

While the line producers had secured general permission for the shoot from the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation Limited, they critically overlooked obtaining a separate permit for flying drones. This oversight proved costly, leading to police intervention and legal action. The police sources highlighted the clear distinction between general shooting permits and specific drone operation clearances, especially in sensitive urban areas.

Local Disruption and Film Update

Local residents, including Sanjay Gurav, reported significant disruption, noting that two parallel roads—Perin Nariman Street and Modi Street in Fort—were blocked for three days for the shoot. Despite this setback, the makers of 'Dhurandhar The Revenge' recently unveiled the film's much-awaited poster, showcasing Ranveer Singh in a 'gory and massy' avatar. The poster also reconfirmed the film's release date, slated for March 19 this year.
