The highly anticipated "Mardaani 3," starring the formidable Rani Mukerji, is set to hit screens tomorrow, January 30. Excitement is palpable amongst fans, fueled by the franchise's popularity and Mukerji's powerful lead performance. Yash Raj Films (YRF), the film's producers and distributors, have adopted a distinctive release strategy, aiming for a controlled theatrical run rather than saturating cinemas with excessive shows.
Mardaani 3's Unique Release Strategy Unveiled
YRF's distribution team has outlined a precise plan for "Mardaani 3's" theatrical release, focusing on strategic show allocation and accessible ticket pricing.
• Affordable Ticket Pricing: In a move designed to attract a wider audience, "Mardaani 3" tickets will be available at "normal admission rates." This pricing strategy aligns with their 2025 sleeper blockbuster, "Saiyaara," steering clear of the inflated rates often associated with major releases.
• Controlled Show Allocations: YRF has imposed strict guidelines on the number of daily shows across different cinema formats:
* Three-screen cinemas: A maximum of 4 shows, with the earliest screening not before 10:00 am.
* Four-screen theatres: 5 shows, commencing from 10:00 am onwards.
* Cinemas with five or more screens: A cap of 6 shows daily.
* Two-screen multiplexes: A specific directive for only 2 shows, both scheduled from 3:00 pm onwards, eliminating morning and early afternoon slots.
• No More Than Six Shows: Crucially, YRF has mandated that no cinema, regardless of its size, is permitted to play more than six shows per day under any circumstances.
• Single Screen Approach: For single-screen cinemas, YRF will decide on show allocations on a case-by-case basis, acknowledging the diverse audience profiles of such venues, including those catering to elite crowds.
Show-Sharing Challenges & Resolution
Despite these reasonable demands, trade sources indicate emerging show-sharing conflicts between "Mardaani 3" and last week's successful film, "Border 2." These issues, particularly in single-screen and two-screen cinemas, are expected to be resolved swiftly by Thursday evening, ensuring a smooth release for Rani Mukerji's latest venture.
Marathi Film Releases Postponed
In a separate development impacting the cinematic landscape, the release of two Marathi films, "Punha Ekda Sade Made 3" and "Ranapati Shivray Swari Agra," has been postponed. This unfortunate decision stems from the sudden demise of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar.
• Both films were initially slated for a January 30 release.
• "Ranapati Shivray Swari Agra" will now premiere next Friday, February 6.
• The new release date for "Punha Ekda Sade Made 3," featuring Ashok Saraf, is yet to be announced by its makers.
Anti-Piracy Measures for Mardaani 3
Adding to the film's protected release, the Madras High Court has granted an anti-piracy injunction to safeguard Rani Mukerji’s "Mardaani 3," ensuring its legitimate viewing experience.
