Actress Sanjana Sanghi, known for her captivating performances across theatrical and OTT films, is all set to embark on an exciting new journey – her debut in the web series space. In an exclusive chat, Sanghi shared her enthusiasm for this long-format venture, a significant step in her diverse career trajectory.
Venturing into the Streaming Space Sanjana expressed immense excitement about finally delving into the streaming realm with a show. "I haven’t done a long-format show up till now," she revealed, emphasizing the careful selection process for such a significant commitment. She highlighted that a web series character can span across seasons, making her choice particularly selective. While the show hasn't officially gone on floors yet, Sanjana is eagerly anticipating its commencement in the latter half of the year, stating, "I am really itching to kick off on that."
Ticking the Comedy Box Beyond her upcoming web series, Sanjana has another professional goal she's keen to achieve: starring in an out-and-out comedy. "It’s something all the filmmakers I have worked with also tell me that they feel like I have this comic timing that I have explored very minimally in my characters thus far," she shared. An opportunity to fully embrace comedic timing is something she believes would be "really fun to do."
Crafting Authentic Characters When it comes to selecting roles, Sanjana's criteria are clear and profound. She actively seeks characters who are "fully rounded" – women who possess a blend of weaknesses and strengths, far from perfect but holistic and well-fleshed out. Her philosophy underscores the belief that women embody a multitude of 'colours' and are inherently multidimensional, a quality she strives to portray on screen.
Global Horizons and Future Ventures Looking ahead, Sanjana has several exciting projects on her radar. She is enthusiastic about the "Dhak Dhak sequel whenever it finally goes on floors." Furthermore, her artistic ambitions extend beyond Hindi cinema, as she actively explores international work. "Because of Netflix and Amazon, I feel like the world has become one place," she noted, revealing that she is actively pursuing various international queries and auditions coming her way.
Recognition on a Global Stage Sanjana recently garnered attention for her participation in the prestigious Women in Power Conference at the Harvard Kennedy School. This appearance highlights her growing influence and recognition on a global platform, reflecting her commitment not just to acting but also to wider societal engagement.
