The highly anticipated Pan-India entertainer, Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is gearing up for its grand release on June 4. Ahead of its debut, the film has successfully cleared the censor process, receiving a U/A 16+ certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the makers were asked to implement several modifications in the original Telugu version to ensure its broader appeal and adherence to guidelines.
Censor Board Mandates: Verbal & Regional Cuts
The CBFC requested specific changes, primarily targeting certain words and a regional reference. The following words were either muted or modified:
• ‘Loudesh’
• ‘Bokka’
• ‘Lambdi kodaka’
• ‘M*r Cd’
• ‘Dongamunda kodaka’
• ‘Kalchi padi denguta’
Additionally, the phrase ‘Saruku saman’ in the ‘Chikiri Chikiri’ song was altered. A significant cut involved the deletion of the word ‘Rajasthan’ and a reference to a particular community in the second half of the film.
Visual Modifications & Intact Action Sequences Fans will be pleased to know that no major visual cuts were imposed on Peddi. The film’s intense action and violent scenes remain intact, promising the high-octane entertainment expected. The only visual modification requested was to cover a shot of a middle finger with CG visuals, ensuring a smoother viewing experience.
With these changes incorporated, the censor certificate was issued on May 22. Peddi boasts an extensive runtime of 189.00 minutes, translating to 3 hours and 9 minutes, ensuring a comprehensive cinematic journey for audiences.
Star-Studded Cast & Crew Behind Peddi Peddi features a stellar ensemble cast, including Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, and Boman Irani. The film is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru, with Ishan Saksena as co-producer. The music for the film has been composed by the Oscar-winning maestro A.R. Rahman, adding another layer of grandeur. Jio Studios will be handling the North India distribution, and the film is set to release in the immersive IMAX format.
Ram Charan's Grueling Preparation At the trailer launch, Ram Charan shared insights into his demanding preparation for the role. He revealed, “Last 25-30 days, we were doing kushti and pehelwan shoots. And I asked our director Buchi Babu Sana to get trained artists, but he got real pehelwans.” This commitment led to a cartilage tear during filming, which Ram Charan bravely dismissed, stating, “but that’s fine. It’s worth it, and it’s a beautiful memory of Peddi.” His dedication underscores the intense physicality and authenticity viewers can expect from his performance in Peddi.
