EXCLUSIVE: Rajpal Yadav, 'Dhaakad' & 'Bhaiaji Superhit' Producers Sued by Priyanka Chopra's Ex-Manager Prakash Jaju Over Bounced Cheques

Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav, along with prominent producers Mahendra Dhariwal (`Bhaiaji Superhit`) and Sohel Maklai (`Cash`, `Knock Out`, `Dhaakad`), finds himself embroiled in significant legal trouble. Priyanka Chopra's former manager, Prakash Jaju, has initiated legal proceedings against them, alleging multiple cheque bounce cases over unpaid loans, as exclusively learned by Bollywood Hungama.

The Genesis of Legal Woes

The year has already seen Rajpal Yadav navigate a challenging period, including a stint in jail for cheque bounce cases. However, his legal battles are far from over. Prakash Jaju's complaint highlights a series of dishonoured cheques, leading to summons being issued to the three film personalities.

Rajpal Yadav: Allegedly issued a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs which was dishonoured. He is directed to appear before the court on September 11, 2026, under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Mahendra Dhariwal: Producer of `Bhaiaji Superhit`, reportedly owes Rs. 50 lakhs to Prakash Jaju.
Sohel Maklai: Producer of `Cash`, `Knock Out`, and `Dhaakad`, is alleged to owe Rs. 40 lakhs to Jaju.

Prakash Jaju Confirms Allegations

Speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Prakash Jaju confirmed the legal action, stating, “I have filed a case against Rajpal Yadav, Mahendra Dhariwal and Sohel Maklai, and the court has issued summons to all three. I had advanced loans to them and accepted cheques as security. When they failed to repay the money, I deposited the cheques, but those cheques bounced.”

Sohel Maklai's Extended Debts

The financial troubles surrounding Sohel Maklai appear to be more widespread. Distributor Ankit Chandiramani has also come forward, claiming that Maklai owes him a substantial amount.

• During the production of `Dhaakad` (2022), Sohel Maklai allegedly borrowed Rs. 10 lakhs from Ankit Chandiramani.
• Similar amounts were reportedly borrowed from director Vishal Mishra (Rs. 8.50 lakhs still owed) and executive producer Manan Sampat.
• Maklai's family members allegedly made emotional appeals, citing financial difficulties and promising repayment from property redevelopment, but only Rs. 3 lakhs out of Rs. 10 lakhs has been returned to Chandiramani, leaving Rs. 7 lakhs outstanding.

The Road Ahead: Court Appearances and Further Legal Action

With summons already issued to Rajpal Yadav, Mahendra Dhariwal, and Sohel Maklai, the legal proceedings are set to intensify. Rajpal Yadav's court appearance is scheduled for September 11, 2026. Ankit Chandiramani, aware of Prakash Jaju's actions, also plans to pursue legal recourse against Sohel Maklai for his outstanding dues.

Attempts to contact Sohel Maklai for comment have so far been unsuccessful. This unfolding legal saga highlights the intricate financial dealings within the film industry and the serious repercussions of dishonoured commitments.
